Chicken Tikka

Chicken Tikka

SOLARA product used : Air Fryer

Chicken tikka, while indulgent, offers some health benefits when prepared with lean cuts of chicken and minimal oil. Chicken is an excellent source of lean protein, essential for muscle growth and repair. Additionally, the spices used in chicken tikka, such as ginger, garlic, cumin, coriander, and turmeric, provide various health-promoting properties. These spices contain antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases and support overall well-being.

Ingredients:

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoons garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika or Kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Cooking spray or oil for greasing

Instructions:

Marinate the Chicken:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the plain yogurt, lemon juice, ginger paste, garlic paste, ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika or Kashmiri red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth marinade.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to develop.

Preheat the Air Fryer:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (360°F) for about 5 minutes.
Prepare the Air Fryer Basket:
  • Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray or oil to prevent sticking.

Arrange the Chicken in the Air Fryer Basket:

  • Once the air fryer is preheated, remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator.
  • Place the chicken pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving some space between them to allow for even cooking.

Air Fry the Chicken Tikka:

  • Slide the basket into the air fryer and cook the chicken at 180°C (360°F) for 15-18 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the exterior is crispy and golden brown.
  • Depending on the size of your air fryer and the thickness of the chicken pieces, you may need to cook them in batches.

Serve:

  • Once cooked, transfer the Chicken Tikka to a serving plate.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and lemon wedges.
  • Serve hot with mint chutney, sliced onions, and naan bread or rice.
